XRP Hot Capital Soars 135%: Bitcoin, Solana Follow
Recent on-chain data reveals a significant surge in XRP’s “Hot Capital,” a metric representing the value of coins that have moved within the past week. Glassnode, an on-chain analytics firm, reported a 135% increase, jumping from $0.92 billion to $2.17 billion between April 20th and 28th. This surge is attributed to speculative capital entering the market. However, despite this rebound, XRP’s Hot Capital remains 72% below its December 2024 peak. The concept of “Realized Cap,” which calculates cryptocurrency valuation based on the last transaction price of each coin, is crucial to understanding this metric. The increase in Hot Capital isn’t isolated to XRP; Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana also experienced growth. Bitcoin saw a 92% surge in Hot Capital, reaching $39.1 billion, marking one of its fastest increases in recent months. Ethereum showed a more modest 54% increase, while Solana experienced a remarkable 100% jump, bringing it closer to its previous peak compared to other cryptocurrencies. Despite these gains, the Hot Capital for all four cryptocurrencies remains significantly below their previous cycle highs, suggesting that speculative activity hasn’t fully returned. Specifically, Bitcoin and Ethereum are down 60%, while XRP is down 72%. Solana is the closest to recovery, with its Hot Capital only 38% below its peak. The price of XRP briefly surpassed $2.30 before retracting to $2.17, reflecting the recent market volatility.
The surge reflects growing institutional interest in alternative monetary systems bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies represent for the global financial landscape.
